Gardening Pics

The bed in the backyard that has spinach, salad mix lettuces, radicchio, red lasock potatoes, strawberries, and a plum tree.
The lettuce section of the backyard bed.
Strawberry and tree section of backyard bed.
The strawberry bed on the other side of the backyard. These were established when I got here almost two years ago.
Onions are planted between the stones and the plants on the right. I think these are yellow onions.
Self explanatory.

Ninety Walla Walla Sweet onions, three huckleberry plants, and a fennel plant.
Leah's sunflower bed.

In this picture are two rows of corn, two squash plants, three rows of onions, and three rows of potatoes. Close up of the corn. It is planted back right in the above large view picture.
Two half rows of popcorn with two cantaloupe in-between and two half rows of regular corn planted three weeks later.
Sorry they are late.

Native Gardening

My goal for landscaping my new yard is to do it all in native plants, this excludes my vegetable and fruit gardens.
I got my first native plants in the ground today. Evergreen Huckleberry (3 plants). Hopefully by next year they will produce some berries.
Here is a picture of the three plants and a close up of one of them.

For a week now I have been digging a ditch along my back fence so that I can plant a natural screen (no more nosy neighbors). The result of the ditch is a new rock wall just beyond the ditch that is almost exactly the same size as the ditch. Apparently in St. Helens you do not so much dig as hand pluck rocks out of the ground. As a result I had to purchase dirt, manure, and peat moss to refill the ditch so I could plant in it. Tomorrow my plan is to plant the five Ocean Spray bushes I purchased last week, also northwestern natives.

Here are some pics of my vegetable garden(s).
The onions have been decimated by the one and only Paige (anytime we head out the back door she rushes the onions and eats one dirt and all. The first picture is one, yes just one, tomato plant of mine. We are going to be eating tomatoes three times a day once they ripen.
