Award for Eden

Miss Eden got an award two Fridays ago at the school assembly. She walked up to the vice principal, snatched the certificate out of his hands, and lined up next to her peers.  Momma, Grandma Mary and Papa Don were all there watching.  The pride and excitement on Eden's face were priceless and the swell in my heart near unbearable.
The award was for having a Good Attitude and Being a Hard Worker.
Way to Go EDEN!

First Day of School

Late Post.  Back to school was eventful around here.  Leah to school, at a public school, full time for the first time ever and Eden starting kindergarten which runs three full days a week.  On the first day they were up and ready to go.  Both in new shirts with plenty of smiles.

We live close enough that the girls walk to school everyday, if you look carefully in the upper right corner you will see the back of one of the busses and the girls are right by our house.  That is how close we live to the school.  Leah loves it because we let her walk home from school by herself (such independence).
Here is Leah at her first grade desk ready to learn.  Since school started, back on August 22nd, Leah has made leaps and bounds in her reading and now reads simple books with me.  She has scored 100% on at least two of her three spelling tests, and is doing great in math.  I think math is the focus at school this year as she has math homework every night and we have yet to see any reading homework.  Froid School does do AR reading so we will see how that goes.
Funny thing, Leah's teacher is married to one of Wade's co-workers and the Special Education teacher is the mother in law of a woman I work with.  Small world out here in NE Montana.
