Curriculum Adaptation

One of my new skills as a mom to Eden is to learn to modify and/or adapt regular school curriculum into a curriculum that will teach Eden.  In the past week I went to two trainings to learn just sort of things and now I am trying my hand at what I have learned.  I looked over Eden's IFSP (school plan) I discovered that they are attempting to teach her to recognize her name and to learn to count so those are the first subjects I tackled.  Here are the results.

The first is to teach her numbers 1 through 3.  As you can see in a laminated sheet are the numbers 1 through 3 with corresponding star pictures to depict the number.  On top of each number (hard to see) is a piece of velcro.  Eden is then given a number (1, 2, or 3) and asked to match it to a number on the laminated sheet.

Here is her name done the same way.  The paper with EDEN is laminated with velcro on the letters.  Eden is then given the E, D, E, or N and asked to match it with a letter on the laminated sheet.  Hopefully this helps her learn both her name and start to understand number concepts.

This final one is so that she can participate in circle time when all the kids are talking about the community.  The current theme for circle time is the community and places the kids like to go in the community.  Leah is the voice actor for the audio.  The buttons on this audio picture book are reprogrammable so as the curriculum/subject matter changes I can change pictures and the dialogue.
